Long story short, I lost the retention screw that’s supposed to keep my whammy bar in one spot. I eventually got a bag of the same screws. But now, even if I tighten the retention screw, the whammy bar still sways a bit. It makes it harder to do flutters because after I strike a note, I have to reach down to grab the whammy, instead of it being with it fingers reach.

I’ve tried wrapping Teflon tape at the base of the whammy, and while that worked for a little bit, the tape is too fragile and ends up wearing away. Just curious if there’s a more permanent solution.

I will say that the new screws I bought sort of have an indent on the end that’s supposed to rest on the bottom of the whammy, which is why it’s probably not providing the best friction to keep the whammy in place. Whereas the original retention screw just had a flat tip. But I cannot find any other of those screws that have a flat tip. Any suggestions?

I had the same issue with a Luke, but I bought a few screws off Amazon and they did the trick. So perhaps you need different ones? You could reach out to MM directly and ask them.
