ANOTHER UPDATE:

Please fill out this form for your string order:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dHl4cW1nSnFqNGxySlpiQ2FlOW83NHc6MA

Update!

WE DID IT! The $5000 goal has been met! For those who contributed $100.00 in donations see the following quote from Aziah on how to obtain your goodies for helping!

Again, thanks to all who helped. Whether it was monetary, bumping the thread, or thoughts and prayers!

You guys are awesome!

First off I would like to say that it has been so touching to see the amount of support this forum has banded together to give.

So now I will need some info from you guys to get some strings! I've gone through the thread, but I don't know if everyone that donated posted. I think the easiest way to do this is to have everyone that was able to donate $100, email me your info. I will need to know:

Forum Handle
Real Name and Address
If you are outside of the USA please make sure to let me know. (We are going to try and get the distributors involved in this to help out)
String choice/hat choice and size (see Sterling's quote)
You can find the hats here:Ernie Ball Inc. - Clothes, Hats

If you are emailing from a different address than the PayPal donation was sent, please let me know what address the donation was sent under.

Thank you all!
~Aziah

BIG EDIT:

Big Poppa is adding an incentive. Sterling, you are a great guy!

OK here is my deal.....

Every bass player that gives $100. gets three sets of Slinky Bass strings...(four string sets)
Every guitarist gets a dozen sets of 6 string Slinkys and an Music Man Hat...

Lets see how we do here....Lets see how much we can raise....If we exceed the $5,000.00 we will donate the excess to the relay for life in JDawgs area.....

Sound good?

We get sidetracked in life and on this forum by some clueless people....acts such as this show that there is a heart beating and sincere desire to help......

Now I have to twist the export distributors to participate!

I am very proud to be involved with all of you.

Original Post

After clearing this with a bovinehost and Jaydawg, I wanted to start a thread to see if we could lend a helping hand. As you know, Jaydawg's wife was diagnosed with breast cancer and is so far winning the fight! Jaydawgs wife is in need of reconstructive surgery and their insurance has a huge deductible. Here's what Jay had to say about it here:

Just wanted to say thank you to Big Poppa and EBMM once again.

With October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, my wife and I have been talking a lot about her diagnosis last year and recovery. To update everyone, my wife is still cancer free. The only thing left is for her to have is re-construction surgery but unfortunately, my insurance has a $5,000.00 out of pocket deductible on all medical stuff before they pay for anything. So that will have to wait until my truck is paid off in 2 years and then my bank will give me a loan for the surgery. But here are the positives. At last years Relay for Life, the Relay for Life people were very impressed with our story and the outpouring from so many people who either prayed for us or did things to go out of their way to help us. As a result, they asked my wife to join their Relay for Life planning committee to which she accepted. She, as well as the other committee members are now planning next years relay. Some pretty big things should be happening too if everything goes according to plan.

Thanks again everyone,
Jay

It was suggested in that thread that if 50 people could send $100.00 then that's all it would take. I realize that not everyone could send that much or that others might could send more. The point is, I think that most of us if willing could help with something and that's my goal here. I believe as human beings we should come together to help one another. Especially as bassist and Music Man bass players at that! :D

If you can't afford to help, that is understandable. Send prayers, thoughts, and positive vibes their way. If you can, that would be appreciated as well. I know that if I were going through something like this myself, I would so greatly appreciate any help given.

I'm sure Jaydawg will be along shortly. Below is his paypal. If you are willing, send whatever you can as a gift (no fees) to his account to help him and his wife, a cancer survivor!

Paypal address: [email protected]

Thanks for your time,

Cody

This community has been kinder to me than almost anybody else in my life it's the least I can do to give back where I've been given so much.

Wow, guys thank you all so much. My wife and I don't understand the kindness everyone has shown to us. This community of EBMM people is truly like family. One thing is for sure, if any of you are ever in need in the future, I will also do whatever I can do to help out as well. I really don't know what else to say. My wife and I are literally speechless right now and will never be able to tell you all or show you how much we appreciate all of you.
Thank you again,
Jay

My mother also just got over breast cancer and is now looking at reconstructive surgery. I understand the hardships. Being a poor college student I cannot offer a monetary gift but I assure you I understand your position and that you have my condolences!
