Excuse my infatuation w/ Van Halen but could you tell me if there were plans to change the style/design of the EBMM guitar before he up and left? I mean were you guys going to produce a guitar like the wolfgang? He said the wolfgang was a natural evolution of the EBMM and is what he would have done next. Is that true or did he design the new one from scratch because he couldn't take the old design w/ him?

It seems as if the Wolfgang has many features that he never wanted w/ a guitar and company.

You ever heard of SPIN Dom? It's when you tell lies to try and make a bad situation or circumstance over which you had no control appear to be what you wanted to do all along ("I meant to do that!" is classic SPIN)... The Van Halen camp are masters of SPIN - of course, they have good reason to be, 'cause Eddie's a jerkoff (imho, of course)... Eddie went to Peavey for MONEY - because they'd give him more per guitar, and build more guitars - but he had to justify the move, so he bickered about patents and claimed he wanted to improve the waiting time for fans of the guitar and then pretended he wanted to change the design anyway... But it seems to me that when you see him playing a Peavey over the last five years, it's always a Wolfie Special, which doesn't have the arched top, and doesn't have the tone control, and looks remarkably like the Axis, if the truth be told... So what does that tell us? Nothing every Van Halen singer hasn't said at one time or another

Just my 2 cents and no disrespect, I wouldn't have put the "affair" thing in the post. I do not know or really care why Eddie left EBMM. That is none of my business. I really don't think slinging dirt or writing "what ifs" about other peoples family are appropriate here IMHO. I hope no one takes this the wrong way, but let's leave the "drama" on the televison shows.

Sorry about the last part (since edited) I knew it was questionable but was trying to figure out the truth. I still think the first question is reasonable----I mean if he had stayed, would we be playing a wolfgang-styled guitar made by EBMM----just a point to ponder----and would anyone care for that style guitar?

As with any guitar, it would be a matter of how it "feels" for me. It has got to feel like I've owned it all its life...I have played the axis before, even though it is an amazing sounding weapon of a guitar, I walked from it because it did not feel right. My EBMM JP feel like they were meant for me...I like the look of the wolfies, but I never played one to say yes I would get one.

Someone posted something about that before, and while I was at NAMM I was talking with Scott Ball, Sterlings son, a bass player for the record, and he was telling me about the new SUB guitars, which for the record are awesome, and the necks felt just like my silhouette special, and I was thinking about that stupid rumor and it really bothered me alot, Im sure its BS, and Im sure the thing about his guitar evolving is BS as well, I would even go so far to say that he still uses his MM guitars to record with here and there, but I do think the Axis is more comfortable with the drop in the back, my 2 cents - lock

For the record, EVH used a Wolfgang Standard for the majority of the VH3 shows. He used the Special with the Sustainer and Trans Trem for a few songs, maybe 3-4. The rest of the show was played with the Standards. I have 5 shows from the VH3 shows on video and that's the way it went. At the 2003 NAMM show he played Custom Shop Standards as well. The Special he's seen with are both modified. The White one has the Trans Trem and the Sunburst Special has the Sustainer pickup in the neck. The Striped one is probably more of a 'trademark' thing.
