Ok so I just re-discovered FUZZ, currently I am using a cough-Danelectro Grilled Cheese-cough pedal and I love the warm rich tone this little puppy puts out, however I'm gasing for something in more of a boutique nature. Now I listened to the Zvex, and it sounds awesome, also the Voodo Labs pedal...anyone using FUZZ?

I'm currently using a MonkeyFX MonkeyFuzzle3 fuzz pedal. It's a UK made boutique pedal with a great sound, really clipped square wave fuzz.

Plus, it looks cool.

I just read a review in Guitarist about the new Seymour Duncan fuzz pedal that Blues Saraceno uses - it looks pretty good...

Yes I checked out his site, while checking out Voodoo Labs, they said he used theirs, but I guess he switched cause when I went to Blues' site, it had the SD TWEAK FUZZ link.

Supposed Blues and Voodoo FUZZ

Thanks guys I'm off to visit SD and check out their FUZZ!

Yo that tweak fuzz is sweet, but the best part was that LUKE that Blues was playing, it had three single SD pups...NICE!

Fuzz.

If you can't get it from the amp then get it from a Pro Co Rat.

You might want to try Analog.man too. They have some pretty interesting stuff. You also might want to try out an octave/fuzz where you can turn off the octave. You know, kind of a two-fer deal. I like the Ultimate Octave by Fulltone. I think it does fuzz real well, plus, you get a great octave sound out of that thing. My two cents. :D

On a side note, anyone tried that Moogerfooger MuRF pedal? That thing looks pretty intersting.... :)

ACTUALLY...ignore the stuff below, after posting this I went back into the er studio (dining room ) and I noticed that my V-amp had a FUZZ amp (D'Oh!) so I dialed it in, chose a nice cab to suit and voila, friggin-free- FUZZ...thanks Norm, I apologize!

...and BTW I thought the Rat was a pure distortion pedal!

Buy a D*M*A MKII - soupy fuzz of the most glorious kind - uses the old mullard OC81d's that were used in solasound fuzz pedals... definitely worth a look!

(just got me a SSport - binding/sunburst/flame top/rose board.... :D )

I've owned the following - Fulltone '70, Jacques Fuseblower, MJM Foxy Fuzz, and Zvex Fuzz Factory. I've played with Rats and Muffs.

My favorite is the Zvex if you can dial it in. Almost useless in a live situation unless you are prepared to spend lots of time with it, but it sounds amazing, in a league of it's own.

Out of the rest my favorite is the MJM. Very musical, controllable, fuzzy but articulate.

Another one that isn't a fuzz per se but works in that scenario is a Boss Metal Zone. I keep trying to get away from it because it's a BOSS METAL ZONE, but it just sticks around. I'm thinking about having the Keeley mod done to it.

They're just fun to play with.

The review at HC isn't mine, but the guy definitely knows what he's talking about. All of the pedals are made to order (4-5 weeks for the MKII) and are as sturdy as they come. Also, important to note if you gig a lot, these pedals can run quite happily off a single battery for hours without dying - and they are true bypass too.
