You better lay off the Nyquil and vodka, Benjamin.

I've had some damned nice Sterlings along the way and the only reason I don't still have one is my deep-seated belief that I am mostly a five string guy.

Have I told you that this belief has been seriously subverted by a guy named Sterling?

I picked up that Big Poppa Bongo at the gig the other night and blew through "Little Sister" and thought, "Well now look at this." I was really only going to play it to say I played it, and I ended up using the thing for the rest of the night.

Ben came up and played it over my shoulder and then he sang, too - don't let him tell you different.

It's whiskey and NyQuil actually.

That was some fun, btw. You coming to Paris this weekend? You know, you could if you wanted to. No pressure or anything, I'm just saying.

I wish I could, but this weekend we're having a long-planned visit with an old college friend of Erika's.....the haughty Lorena. (She's less haughty than she used to be, but I still look forward to seeing her.) They're showing up Friday and staying until Monday, I am told, and we have to go see Thomas the Tank Effin' Engine in Grapevine and The Incredibles On Ice and God knows what else.

So I'm stuck. We put a little something in the mail for Jackson, so be on the lookout.

That WAS fun, in spite of the surroundings. I reckon we'll be at it again on the 31st and even though I owe you a visit, I'll be sad if you're not present.

That may very well happen, Jackson, since I'm going to play in Dallas the next evening with a 15 year-old blues prodigy named Tyler Bryant. We're playing the opening of Don Nelson's (former Mavericks coach) new club somewhere in the DFW area. You'll need to show up, of course. The drummer's the weak link in that little group, but oh well. He's a good guy.
