Hey all - Hope this is ok to post here, been lurking around this forum for a very long time.. and im the owner a 2011 black HSH silhouette standard. Love the feel etc etc. I used to play a strat and before that an SG... neither where quite right for me. The longer ive been playing the more picky ive become (which im sure is a pretty natural thing with us all..) however I just wanted to ask for a bit of advice on my current setup as I just cant quite get what I want out of it. so the chain is...

Silhouette > Mad Prof Comp > Suhr koko > JHS Morning Glory > Mad Prof LGW > Suhr Riot > Vol > Timeline into a Mesa Boogie F30.

What I keep finding is that my gain feels so flubby/saggy ... was able to get quite a nice glassy clean tone from the clean channel but when i put the pedals through the gain just gets very thin or fuzzy.. both kinda annoying. Stacking doesnt seem to work too well..

The gain side of the f30 again feels so loose, its ok maybe if you want higain but i play mostly P&W so it rarely needed (instrumentals/fills do occur though). A mate has a solid state fender which seems to do better..

Should i just dump the boogie? or is there a way to get a good chimey clean with body?

Thanks!

You got some great gear there!

You might want to look at the bass control on the Mesa. They usually work better turned low. You also might also try moving the Koko after the Riot and (if you don't already) run that timeline thru the amp loop

Thanks Mike!

Had another thorough go through it all last night, took some bass out etc.. its good! Not 100% blown away with the LGW and Riot on these settings but my clean/low gain sounded really nice.

Bit of a side note.. I keep finding the LGW gets fuzzy with not loads of gain going through it.. is this a common thing with tubescreamer type pedals?

Considering more of a plexi pedal to replace it if i cant get much joy out of it.

I have no experience with the Little Green Wonder but I also typically don't care for Tube Screamers or variants there of. The only I liked was the M/I Audio Blues Pro (that I sold and regret).

I do have a Riot and will share my approx settings: toggle center - tone 10:00, distortion 2:00 and level as needed.
