HowD, YOU'ZAll, in a few more winks it's time to get goin' for another day;) even so, musicians should not have to function so early in the morning:rolleyes:, but after a 4 or 5 month layoff and any ongoing battle with depression and fading hope, I'm heading into another physio therapy research project with UBC over at #1 rehab hospital again, this one more exercise based and not about electrical stimulation:), the left side is still quite immobile and unhappy and no fingers wiggle yet, but every once in so often, I'm able to get small movements from the forearm, but nothing spectacular:(
I still need a serious miracle and it's only because of my SWEETIE and YOU'ZAll here at the EBMM Forumz that I'm able to keep inspired to keep goin' ... BIG THANX for all your support and vibez and inspiration for all this long time:);)
Meanwhile, keep the EBMM home firemists burning for me pleez:)
ATB;)

Man your determination to hang in there is an inspiration to us all, I can familiarize with your urge to get back to playing, following a minor incident, I have lost the top part of my right hand thumb in a freak motorcycle accident (I was repairing it and got my thumb caught in the chain and snapped it off)

I haven't been able to play for months, and am only just getting back into it recently, however you can't believe how difficult it is not having half a thumb for a right handed bass player, you can't rest the stump on the body (at least note yet, until some flesh grows back between the bone and the skin) as it is still very painful and you can't hold a pick, so I am working around those limitations, but I am not giving up, far from, I am practicing more and more and I have been playing a few gigs regardless, with my thumb wrapped in a makeshift cap made out of tyre inner tube and lots of black tape to keep it in place ;)

Hang in there you will soon be enjoying your passion too

Pzo,

To be honest with you, I usually don't reply to your threads because I am too overwhelmed. I can't imagine what you have and are still going through.

I wish you nothing but peace and good fortune and hope that before you know it you'll be playing your bass and smiling in the sun!

Hang in there, brother!

PZO

I like to use stumble upon (a firefox addon) to explore the internet. Yesterday I saw a kid in a wheel chair at a skatepark and he did a backflip and all kinds of super extreme stuff.

I was scannin You Tube and saw a fabulous one handed bassist.....

There is the famous kid who plays with his toes.

Maybe you should focus on your right hand and not your left when thinking about making music. Maybe think about what you have rather than what you lost.

It is easy for me to say this but I gave you examples where desire to create and express won out over physical limitations.

If you want to play bass...play bass...the pzo way!

Words to live by!

Pzo, you're an inspiration to us all. I look forward to your posts, and hope this family of Knuckle (and CanKnuckle) heads is somewhat therapeutic. We're all pulling for you, buddy.

HowD again YOUZ'All and BIG Thanx again for a nuther round of Ncouragement,:)awunnerful thing happened today in the rehab research lab, I met a fellow who was also down pretty hard, but walking strong and long now and he said to me that the secret for him was to get in the swimming pool, so, after a few more winks, it's up to phone my recreation therapist about my first 2009 new year's resolution:):cool:there is a very good community recreation pool nearby and I think I'd better get something wet:)
oh yeah, one more thing ... on the way home this evening, in the wheelchair bus, I noticed a few clouds had drifted up fromn SLO and were hangin' over Vancouver Island, just across the Strait of Georgia .... how do I know where they came from? 'cuz they were in the famous and fantastic California Sunset colours:cool::),
so, wherever I go, there's no gettin' EBMMz out of my mind and heart ...:)now, to get them back in my armz again;):)
oh yeah, one more thing ... sum day soon, I must share with YOUZ'All how far back I go with Firemist colours:cool::)
meanwhile, ATB:cool:

Hey PZO, it's great to hear you're still around fighting to get back on track! You show amazing strength of will!!

And while I think it is great how you work on your left side, I also like BP's suggestion of trying to play bass in different ways.

All the best! Keep the faith! May the Force be with you!
