Hey guys looking at a Luke or a Roasted Albert Lee SSS. I had a Luke before so I am familiar with it and loved the neck profile but sold it in a moment of stupidity. Just wondering if the AL has a comfy neck profile for small hands and fingers and if the pups can handle some modern music and alt rock or would a pup swap be needed?

Thanks all for the feedback :)

Get both!

We have a roasted SSS AL (piezo!) here at the shop and it is an awesome axe. The AL has a rounder profile than the rest of the EB line but is still comfortable. I gig an AL on occasion and play music from 50s-today. While it is not quite as loud as my JP it certainly holds its own on FooFighters /Pearl Jam songs, and the like.

Hi
Since I got my first AL in 05 there's been no looking back!
I don't have big hands and find the Al neck sublime to play - I love it.
I also love the SSS config and it handles the wide variation of stuff that we play in our covers band
From Foo fighters to the Who to Free to Hendrix to Snow Patrol ... etc etc.
The first EB guitar I tried was a Luke - the neck wasn't to my liking at the time and I didn't fancy active pick ups, the second guitar was the AL - and that is my weapon of choice.

The fretboard width is the same 1-5/8" at the nut on all EBMM guitars except for the JP which is 1-11/16"

The width at the last fret is a little different.

Luke 2-3/16"

Axis 2-3/16"

AL 2-1/4"

Morse 2-1/4"

Keep in mind that the radius and frets are different from model to model, too!
