Down here in Huntsville, it's "All clear." Had some gnastiness roll through last evening around 5 from some storms that had pounded Arkansas and Mississippi. Some minor flooding and damage. But, all OK! Thanks!
We got hit over here. From what I know, one person was killed here by an Eckerd's wall falling on them (Travis correct me if i'm wrong). A few messed up houses and everything but i'm a-ok. Thanks for asking!
The one that hit New Orleans last month was about a mile and a half from my apartment there. I slept through it. Started driving to work and thought "wait, that house wasn't in the middle of the street last night.."
The eckerds I mentioned earlier is actually less than a mile from Travis' house. From what he told me, some houses were messed up in his neighborhood too. Just glad it wasn't worse.
An Eckerd, McDonalds, Burger King, some bank, and two new hotels all within 1 MILE from my house took a pretty good beating.
After the storms calmed we got out and looked around. I was shocked to see 5 houses in the back of my neighborhood (approx. a quarter mile from me) got destroyed.
There were numerous neighborhoods in a 4 mile radius of mine that got major damage.
How we were 100% unaffected (other than being scared) by the tornado(s) is beyond me. I sure am thankful though.
Some friends were caught up in the one in LadyLake FLA last month and naturally, we were very concerned. After a few days we heard from them and they were OK, but shaken by the experience.
