It's their way of keeping us informed as to what they are doing as far as experimenting and what not. Some are for sale...for the CLB others are for artists and the others are for whatever. Some of these torture pics have become a reality as far as production models...such as the 20th Silo, the 30th Stingray, etc. Now we will have the BFR happening that will be made for the public as well. Bring 'em on! Hope this helps answer your question.

I did it because I had Dave LaRue's Bongo and a camera.

And as to the larger question of "WHY", well, because they're fascinating instruments and, speaking as a long-time member of this here little hang, I think we'd all rather see them than not.

It's one of the perks of hanging here - BP and Dargin and Derek trot out stuff that we otherwise wouldn't get to see.

Some of the things we've seen, I suspect, will be close to what is offered under the Ball Family Reserve label.

ditto to what those two chaps said...

my guesstimation is the following: (i reiterate, its a guess)

a lot of the torture stuff falls into 2 categories in my mind...

1) CLB auction items
2) R and D

so in my mind - i imagine that the engineers at EBMM are always working on something new, even if its just a tweak to something that already exists. i guess in a nutshell what im saying is that most of the torture stuff is a peak at the future: where the EBMM folks want to take the instrument industry.

so essentially we're just lucky enough to get a peak at whats to come.

Oh, come on. We all know the reason.

BP is an evil SOB who loves seeing us squirm and grovel!

:D :D :D

Torture is the correct word.

See, now that I've GOT a Bongo, the only thing I GAS for any more is a NICER Bongo. What better way to punish me than to show a jaw-droppingly gorgeous mahogany Bongo that I cannot own at any price?

And I wouldn't have it any other way! How dull the world would be if this company were another faceless mega-corporation?

EBMM is something special.

Jesus guys....

Calm down.

If anyone had bothered to actually read my post, I wasn't asking why you show them. I was asking if there was significant stories behind certain pieces, wondering if somehow, someone could share the history of a particular one off piece.

But you know what? Never mind, I don't care anymore about it. That's fine.

whatever.

You know, I FEEL calm and I felt calm when I answered, but maybe I just didn't notice how I came across?
