Aaaah i seee, really should have read your website a bit better. SO what was the real reason for doing this?was it all about looks or were string coming off??KInda interesting...

The straight pull across the bridge was perhaps an improvement. But the deeper grooves were to prevent the strings coming off the saddles. Under normal circumstances they wouldn't have. But his playing style was taken into account when it was designed.
