Terrible news about Mike. At least we got Toto back briefly. It's sad that they have to tour Europe, and not their homeland. I never got to see Toto live, these guys are great players to see.

Mike was always THE MAN behind the groove in Toto, even after Jeff passed away.
I always wondered what kept him from touring with Toto the last years, so I am really sad to hear that he is suffering from ALS.

My best wishes go out to him and his family.

When I first saw the TOTO announcement on Facebook, I was absolutely happy....then I saw the devastating news. These guys have been so influential to my own musical development, I learned a lot from them about putting it all together...then Jeff passed away, that was a total shock. And now the suffering comes back to the same family :(

All my best vibes and wishes go out to Mike, a truly good man. My thoughts are there, brother!

Great shot!
That's exactly how I remember Mike when I recall all the Toto shows I've seen: totally into his playing and groovin' away like there's no tomorrow!

I feel so sorry for him, his family and friends...

That IS a great shot of Mikey with his SR5 - like great for a poster! I'm a huge fan of Toto - and Jeff and Mike. I've learned most of the bass lines on all the Toto records going back to the days of David Hungate on bass. Mike has done a great job since Hungate left the band. He is a solid and groovey cat. He's done quite a bit of session work outside of Toto too. Life is a drag sometimes. I heard this ALS news from a friend at NAMM this year who actually knows Mike and his family and I freaked. We all heard about some mysterious shoulder problem a couple years ago - then Lee Sklar joined Toto, so we knew it was something more serious, but no real news until now. BTW, Mike's son Sam plays bass and is playing tonight at the House of Blues Hollywood - I'm goin' - gotta go see and support the next Porcaro on bass! His band is called Thunder City Shout.

this is sad and hurting attitude but there are always people to criticize.

that's the way Toto is showing respect to their members. By playing live. I think what they are doing is showing a lot of respect to Mike and his family.

When Jeff passed away the decided to tour and pay him a tribute every night

What an awesome band and great cats! Thanks for all the support for Mike and us and for understanding WHY we are doing this little tour this summer. I am NOT going...
