Hello all. I currently have a lovely Trans Orange Axis (in mint mint condition) and I was considering trading it to my local music store for a Albert Lee HH, white w/a white pick guard (Trem version).

I paid a pretty penny for my Trans Orange and I was wondering what you all think a fair trade in price would be?

I can't afford both. I am just in love with the sound/feel/look/playability of the AL HH (love my Axis as well :))

Let me know what ya think. As always, thanks a bunch!

Truthfully if I were you I would sell the guitar via ebay,CL or by word of mouth. I would never do a trade in with any store as you are going to take a really big hit. The bottom line ,and this is just about with any store is they cannot offer you what you would like as they are in business and have to resell your guitar and make a profit so you are not going to like the offer they give you, but do not take it personal. Now if you sell the guitar on your own all the profit is coming your way. Check the completed listings on ebay and see what the average price is going for, also T-Orange is a discontinued color and with the guitar being dead mint as you stated depending on how patient you are, I can see you getting pretty good money for that ax, and quite a few hundred more than a store is going to offer.Good Luck.

That's a hard one to pin down. Music stores are there to keep the owner fed and his rent paid. I know the one I deal with mostly is fairly easy to pin down on what they pay out. If I just want cash.....half of what they'd sell it for (which I can find by looking at similar guitars on their site) and if trading, 60-75%.

Bring it to them and ask. If you don't like the price, try selling on your own. I've done that before and every time, I got far more than what the music store offered me. Then you can go in and negotiate the price of the HH Al with cash in your hand.
