Just curious how many springs you guys are using with your trems. Particularly, the JP's, but can be others as well. For those using 2 springs do you have them connected to the outside hooks or set up one hook in so it looks sorta like a triangle configuration.

Thanks,
Scott

are you wanking a lot Scott? :D;)

I just have what my Silo came set up with. I don't really use the trem a lot.

Straight 3 springs with 10 gauge strings. Standard setup from the factory. Good tension on the bar.

It depends. On my JP when I use 10's I use 3 springs, |||, when I've had it set up for 9's, I go back to 2 springs in the sort of open triangle shape. / \

Everything else I have is set up for 9's in the / \ shape.

I have my MD setup with 2 springs, and moved the hooks one hole toward the center for both on the bridge side (not the claw side), so it is in a triangle configuration and it works well to relieve some tension.

My White JP is setup with 3 springs in the stock config...

I have the / \ setup with 9s on my floyds. The wide part on the sustain block. I also have the trem claw screwed pretty far in to keep the floyd tight to the body, but with the 2 springs it dives quite easily.

Loaded to the max (the silo springs I mean). Don't use trems but like the trem tone over most hardtails I've had.

Exactly the same here

Of all the guitars I've ever had with trems I've always kept the springs where they were at (stock). I'm sure when I get my JP6 in the next couple of weeks I'll keep it stock too, especially since I'm putting a tremol-no in that baby. Does putting the springs in the / \ really help loosen the tension?

I would think it would increase the tension since the strings are stretched with more tension. I did it once but I don't remember what actual effect it had.

Does using 2 springs make a huge difference? All of my floyd guitars have 3, but my JP6 has 3, but feels the tighest of all.
