Help! Trem Arm not snapping in

For some reason the trem arm is not "snapping" in on the (used) JP6 Mystic Dream I got last week. I have tried backing out the set-screw on the backside and the bottom-side of the brass block and it makes no difference. I can adjust the swing as I like, it just doesn't snap into place.

What would cause that? I swear it was the other day when I got it????

The tremolo arm "snaps in" because there is a small rod spring on the back of the block itself, towards the bottom. If the rod spring is loose, missing, etc, it won't stick in.
