Tremolo Arm Fitment

Hi folks,
Does anyone know if the modern tremolo arm (without the plastic tip) will fit the Vintage Bridge? Is it as simple as adjusting (i.e. loosening) the set screw under the bridge plate? I'm thinking it would match the look of the solid/block saddles a little better and might be a tad more robust... Thanks in advance!

Anyone have experience fitting the 1/4" Diameter Tremolo Arm on the vintage bridge? Anyone? In case it wasn't clear from the original post, the stock bent steel saddles were swapped out for solid brass block saddles. I figured the 1/4" Diameter Tremolo Arm might be a better match visually, and possibly a little more robust when compared to the 3/16" Diameter Tremolo Arm.
