Tremolo Bar Stuck

Hi all,

I’ve been trying to remove the tremolo arm in my 2023 Axis Super Sport. I removed the set screw on the underside of the bridge and the termelo bar still wouldn’t come out. I then noticed a second screw of some sort in there, but I have no idea how to remove it.

Did some searching on the forum, and someone said figured out how to remove the second screw, but didn’t mention how.

Can anyone please advise me? Photo attached for reference!

Hi! Welcome to the forum. You don't need to remove any screws to get the trem arm out. That screw in the photo is adjusts the tension to allow the trem arm swing freely or stay in place, as you like.

There is a pretty strong spring on the side of the tremolo block that the arm moves past when it locks in. You just need to do what the video shows, using your fingers to "pry" out the tremolo arm. The grub screw on the side of the block controls how easily the tremolo arm swings around. The one on the bottom is the stop screw to take up any play once the arm is locked in.

I had to pull extremely hard to get it to come out, but it eventually came out, alongside some metal scrapings/shavings.

That's definitely not normal. Was there any damage to the tremolo arm? Have you tried seeing if there is possily more debris in there? That could be why it was locked in so tight.

Definitely a bit strange to damage the trem when removing it. Did you loosen that little 1.5 mm hex screw prior to pulling out the trem bar (the screw that is accessible when you dive bomb the trem)?

I had removed the little 1.5mm hex screw entirely before attempting to remove the bar.

I suspect that I had inserted the bar at a bit of an angle and maybe forced it in too tight. Otherwise, the shavings could have been something else entirely.

After removing the bar, I cleared out the cavity with some compressed air and ensured it was clean.

The term bar comes in and out much more smooth now, so it could have just been debris causing the issue.
