Tremolo Springs..Words of Wisdom

Who has words of wisdom as far as selecting Tremolo springs to get a soft/emotive touch and still be able to deck it for Van Halen tunes? I have never seen the need to replace an EBMM/SbMM bridge, but do only use Highwood Contour saddles. Strength of springs and numbers. Thoughts? Subjective I know...

I have taken springs out of my EBMMs, and run them with just two springs.

It's pretty subjective and would depend what string gauge you use ... I think you have to play with the springs/claw distance until you're happy with how far the bridge moves.

Fwiw, I've decked my L3s, I use 9-42 strings, 3 stock springs, and I have them set so the bridge just starts to lift when I bend the B string up 3 semitones.
