Yep Stevie Ray was the best, great player with great feel, and one hell of a nice guy, i had the cahnce to meet him many years ago before he became a well known artist, as down to erth as one person can get, he has and will be missed.

I have Live at the El Mocambo and the version of Lenny from that performance is the kind of emotion I aspire to in my playing...one of the most beautiful guitar pieces ever!

I got hooked in 1984 when I bought Couldn't Stand the Weather...I listened to it everyday...still get chills when I listen to it now.

SRV will always be an inspiration!

I was fortunate enough to play the actual Lenny strat! BP was there. It was an emotional experience for me, considering that it was the closet I have ever been to one of my biggest heroes. It still had the original strings. I could almost hear Stevie. Hard to explain...By far, one of the coolest moments of my life. Stevie was a true innovator. He made a path for so many guitarists to follow. He played and sang with so much passion and fire. There will never be another SRV.

I grew up in Mississippi and moved to Texas when I was 19. I was, to say the very least, sick of the blues and anything that sounded like the blues.

And one night in Houston, I agreed to meet a friend at a place we played quite a bit, Fitzgerald's. Kind of a converted old house with a funky vibe. We always liked playing there.

I knew SRV's name because we played the same kinds of places around town, Fitzgerald's and Steamboat and those places, for you old Texas guys. Anyway, at the time, it was his brother who was the big deal. Locally, I mean. Stevie was, in my mind, just Jimmie's little brother. I think a lot of other people felt the same way - although not for long.

I don't remember what we talked about, if we talked at all, because it was so obvious that this guitar player was just - on fire. The friend I was there with was a guitar player and he sat there with his mouth open. If this was the blues, I was back in the fold.

I'm awfully glad I had the chance to see Stevie play.

Back in the 80's we used to cover a lot of SRV's songs.
The crowd had never heard of him - they loved the songs.

I remember the day I walked into work and got told the tragic news of his death.

RIP

oh.. i have always been under the impression that clapton gave up the first chopper so srv could have it because he was in a hurry... but then again.. im getting older and memory has never been good ;)

on a side note: here in .no they charge 180.000 nok for the reissue lenny guitar.. (exchange rate for dollar is 5,5.. that be 32800 dollars)
how INSANE is that?????????????????

tyler: you are one lucky man!! playing the real deal :D

I had the privilege of seeing SRV live in a small venue in Philly. I was 6th row center. There's no other way to put it - he played that guitar like he was making love to a woman - My date had to mop me up off the floor.....

Even now, I have to be careful if I listen to him while driving - I'm liable to find my self completely lost!!

That band was so tight - that groove is so powerful. It's what I shoot for when I swing.

Not a day goes by that I don't listen to something by SRV.

"I think I've got something special to say with my music. But I have to keep these things in perspective, because they're gifts.

It's all a gift, and I have to keep giving it back or it goes away. If I start believing that it's all my doing, it's gonna be my undoing.

I'm committing myself to doing the most I can with the gifts I have, so that they do as much good as possible."...Stevie Ray Vaughan
