The 5150 is a great amp, a very good plug and play amp, but it's very one dementional, pretty much what you hear is what you get.

Scott.

I hear ya.... but the 2x12 is much better than the head esp on the clean chanel.

I had the 5150ii head, and l was quite pleased with the clean channel, got a better clean sound than the mesa rec. that l'm using now.

i tried the peavey Valve King ( combo and head ) , WOAH!!!!! Just a great great valve amp, shedloads better than the JSX. try one! NOW!!!

Wow. I hated the Valve King. That's the kind of amp that gives Peavey a bad rep. I thought it sounded horrible and had bad build quality. The JSX is a pro, touring quality amp.

To each his own.

I think most guitarists will agree that it's easy to find a guitar than an amp, I knew since the Luke came out that it was the guitar for me, but the amount of amps l've gone through over the years, hell, last year l went through 3-4 amps, but my Luke has been through it all beside me, my current amp (which l've had for about 6 months), l'm already contemplating replacing it already.

You're not alone bro,

Scott.

I just sold my JSX. It was OK. Tried through a couple different cabs..just could not get "my" sound. Sounded kind of boring. Believe it or not my little Mesa Subway Rocket sounds a lot better. I can even hook it up to my 4x12...it's plenty loud. Can't wait to try it with my new JP6. I also just bought a GNX3000 several weeks ago and got the MFX super models disc for it.Has a bunch of AMP models that sound incredible. I like it for the MESA sounds alone. I like both better than the JSX...just did not have that mojo. It is a quality amp however. I suggest playing different guitars through it and trying different cabs as well. Good luck.

Line 6 all the way for me. Whether you like it or not, that kind of thing is the future.

Tim, I won't disagree with you there. I've got a Vox Tonelab and POD XT Live. I love them and think the Line 6 Flextone III is an excellent amp too. In fact, OC told me he just got a Vetta II when were at Pete's for the Petrucci clinic.

Play what sounds good to you man.

I posted this a few weeks ago, but I have a JSX, and love it.

It's versatile and well built. Years ago I NEVER EVER EVER thought I'd get a Peavey amp and be proud of it, but times have certainly changed.

I had a Triple XXX, and didn't hear much of a difference between the ultra and crunch channels, but the JSX seems more well rounded to my ears. Plus, the JSX has a few more tweaks that the Triple XXX just doesn't have.

In the end, your ears will make the call. Good luck!
