is this strictly an AMP/Cab issue? or is it possible that a set-up issue on a MM could prevent proper sustain (especially on the E string). I believe i have my bass set-up properly according to the EB website.

i'm really unhappy with the sustain on my bass, i haven't really tried any compression pedals yet, but have a compression settingin my amp (carvion r600 running through ampeg 6x10).

any tips?

yeah, i know i should take it to a tech.. my normal guy is an hour away, i don't really trust my guitar in anyone elses.

Try tuning the E string up to A and leave it for a few minutes before retuning (perhaps wear eye protectors in case the string breaks).

I've just had a sustain problem with fifth fret A on the E string. Everywhere else was ok (except for the usual dead spot on the G).

That seemed to fix matters. Maybe the string wasn't seated properly on the nut????

P.S. At the same time I changed the black pg to tort...pretty sure that had nothing to do with it ;) ;) ;)

hmm, maybe so.. i'm using 105's maybe the E-string is too thick for the nut.

I'll give the A tuning thing a shot..

Update.....

I've noticed a hairline crack on the nut of my Bass (well some time ago but placed no importance to it)!!!

Maybe the case that when I tuned higher, the added tension seated that part of the nut??? Yes/no???????? I'm guessing yes.

I was thinking of going for a brass nut.

Any opinions Jon???????

Am I on the right tack??????
