"speed mechanics for lead guitar" is a great book for building solid technique and developing some chops. I used myself and and have used it with students and I've had nothing but good results. I can't speak for any of his other books.

yes that's a really good book, very detail and good in explanation, not just about technical but in theory wise too.

I recommend the 'Speed Mechanics For Lead Guitar' from Mr Stetina. Although the tittle says Lead Guitar, but it has some basic knowledge in rhythmic to understand the rhythm pattern too.

all the best with your music!

I'm working through "Speed Mechanics" everyday and own several chops books, DVDs, etc. This maybe one of the best I've seen or used.

Paul Gilbert's "GOOMY" is excellent too.
