hey i have seen a few pics of bongos in desert gold and was just wondering if someone had a pic that closely represented the real colour. i have seen all of bovines and thus fell in love with dg, but i just saw a 4HH on ebay and it looks kind of sick.... Apart from general metallic variances...what does desert gold REALLY look like?

From everything I've seen the color varies. I saw 2 of them at GC sitting side by side and they were the same - yet different (one was darker and "oranger").

This pic is a very good representation of the color of mine.

Now it has a Tort pickguard on it though. I need to take some new photos of it.

I've seen Desert Gold with a unique copper-looking-ice-like pg that was simply outrageous.

I'm not sure but could you be talking about the special copper colour that they had on a few basses? I know that came with a copper pickguard.

Infact, doesn't someone here own one?

It's not DG. It's called copperhead or something like that. It has a washed copper pickguard.
That's right. I believe it was called Copperhead Bronze.

Horrific lighting!

Washed copper / copperhead bronze... Either names would be appropriate for what I saw. It was a Sterling in Desert Gold and it look awesome with that pg.

Actually was "the" Sterling that sold me on the model - I passed on that particular one because I thought the look would be a bit to radical for church on Sundays. ;)
