I have a 20th Anny Silo that has recently had some neck issues (much like its current owner)!

Pictures attached.

1). The neck is bowed back with a hump peaking around 5th fret. I have loosened the truss rod screw (by turning it in small amounts to the left while looking from bridge to nut). It has had no effect.

2). I tried lifting the saddles as high as they could go before falling over.

3). Finally said screw it and took the neck off for closer inspection.

What I found was that the truss rod adjustment head simply backs off the bold and comes off. It does not actually turn the bar.

My questions are:

A). Is this normal or abnormal?

B). Any suggestions on a remedy?

All input appreciated! Tnx, Flash

The adjustment nut will unscrew off the bolt like that, that's normal. But if you have a back bow under string tension, the truss rod won't help.

Call customer service, you'll find their toll free number from one the links in my signature, or failing that you'll find it at music-man.com. This is what they are there for, let them advise you.

I talked to EBMM this afternoon. They said a back bend like that is often non-recoverable. I'm gonna see if I can find a luthier who might be able to hot press it out. Otherwise it's not worth tearing the neck down. EBMM said they'd make me a new one (for $600!!!). Yikes.
