Trying different nut sizes

Hey everyone! Quick question. If I have a SMMS5 with a nut width of 1.77”, can I buy one of those MMS5 compensated nuts, from the MM online store, that are 1.75” and replace the old one with it, or is it a bit too small and would cause problems? Any info helps

The compensated nut won't work because it's back to front dimension is too big and also it's designed for a different position relative to the 1st fret. It will throw the intonation of the SMMS5.
