I got a Music Man Cutlass RS in a trade. When I typed in the serial number on the serial number lookup, I'm seeing different specs than what I see on the guitar.

Serial # G83936
Manufactured December 4th, 2017
Build Code 805-01-10-06-CS-CR
Model Cutlass SSS Guitar
Color Black
Neck Tinted Maple Maple Fretboard
Pickguard Parchment
Hardware Chrome Hardware

The guitar I have in my hands is black with a tortoise pickguard and a roasted maple/rosewood neck.

Do I have a parts guitar or is the website info incorrect?

At a glance, it all looks right to me -- many people swap pickguards out (myself included *cough* hot-pink + blue Cutlass **cough**). But the bridge, body contours, heel, neck, etc. look like they're the right thing.

I usually don't dig tortoise guards all that much but I think it works nice on that guitar. Black + White is timeless though, even if a bit boring. You could always go back.

Sounds like the previous owner did a updates. Neck swap and pick guard change. Do you like it as is?

Looks good, different from most other Cutlasses.

What's under the pickguard? Some photos of that might be useful and inside the neck pocket.

Yeah, I'd guess that someone swapped the neck and p/g. They could well have had two Cutlasses, or swapped with a friend. (I've done this before.)

If they swapped the neck, wondering where they got it from? Surely they didn't buy two guitars to swap necks?
Oh sure they absolutely could of. Maybe they preferred the color of one and the neck of the other. Or they couldn't get a maple neck in a certain combination. I see it's listed on Reverb, are you selling or getting feelers?
