I've noticed a lot of people are using KORG DTR 1 or 2 tuners. These must be good? I really need to get a rackmount tuner. Any suggestions?

And doesn't it seem like they come over just as you're starting to tune? Makes me nuts too!

Always when I'm just starting to tune. I'm trying real hard to get them to get pedal tuners so they may actually have the ability to tune during a show. Those itsy bitsy strings on geetars don't hold their tuning as well as our gargantuan bass strings do.

Does anyone know if the Korg DTR-1's and 2's tune the low B on a 5 string? My one tuner won't "hear" my low B.

If your bass is set up correctly, you should be able to tune the B string harmonically.

Yes I'm aware of that...

What I'm asking is can these tuners "hear" the low B to tune it? In a lot of my situations I'm not able to tune with harmonics. I perfer this method - but I'm not able to always do it that way.

I'd rather not pay $180 for a tuner that only tunes 4 of my 5 strings.

Oh, I see. Sorry, I didn't mean to sound condescending in my previous post. I've only tuned one 5 string since I got that tuner and I don't remember whether I could use it with the string open or not. I think Korg recommends the DTR-2 for basses, but I didn't know that at the time I purchased my DTR-1. I almost always tune to the 12th fret anyway.

Oh yeah my DTR 2 def does. It is much more sensitive than any cheapo handheld.

No problem. I've used a DTR-2 with my SR5 for several years now.

I've been meaning to get one of the Petersen virtual strobes but haven't got around to it yet. I think Jon uses one at Uncle Ernies.

However, my Boss TU-12 chromatic seems to work ok.

How about those robotic tuners? Anyone try them out? I'm concerned. Did it take over your position and play bass for your gig?

Thanks everybody for the replies!!

The reason I asked is right now I'm using a Boss-?? (the $70 chromatic one) and it will not "hear" the low B on any fiver.

Just doing some double checking.
