Tuning problems on Petrucci

Hey all!
I'm new to the forum. Things look pretty cool here.

I have a Music Man Petrucci Redburst and I love it to bits but I am having tuning instability issues. Whenever I do a whole-step bend or more on the high e or b strings they go out of tune. Every time... Anyone know what this could be or how to fix it? Any ideas are welcome!

Thanx all

David

help

First how old are the strings???
Second: Maybe they stick at the nut, try to oil the string slots a bit.

It´s nowadays nearly impossible that your machines (tuning pegs ) fail.
This should help

any non-sticky oil is good,
When i oil my neck with lemon oil I give little bit on the nut and never had problems, you can use any good machine oil (for sewing machines for ex.)

Don´t use the gunstock oil, it´s to sticky!!!
Hope this helps, good luck.

Some use 3 in 1 oil (from your local Canadian Tire!), but that can get a bit messy. I have had good success using a product called Guitar Grease, which is a paste that is like a mixture of graphite and chap stick. I odered it online from Stew-Mac, and received it within a week.

Here's the link to the product:

Give it a try, and good luck!

Cheers.

Cool. thanks for the lynk. I use a mix of Vasoline and lock grafite.... or straight vasoline. Works fine for me.

i think there is a problem with the tuning pegs or the bridge. i suggest taking it to a servicing. Let the pros take care of it but dont worry to much, it is something as small as that, it could easily be fixed.

Good Luck. :)

Not necessarily the case. locking keys don't really slip at all, and that doesn't seem to be his issue. Could be nut friction (which most likely it is...) and in that case the nutsauce will work nicely. Same with the saddles, make sure you apply a little there too. Also, and this is the cardinal rule....make sure you stretch your stings out when restringing otherwise there will be tuning issues...

Late!
