Hello bass monsters!

I just thought as a 'valued UK poster' (thanks SteveB) from the guitar side, I'd make the only possible useful contribution I could to this thread, which is to show you what an EBMM in Black Sparkle with some of those thin fiddly strings looks like!;)

Enjoy!

Wha--? I thought I heard something for a sec... naah. :D :D :D

I cant respond to clickiness......forums by nature are. Talk Bass has as many clicks as major cities have ethnic neighborhoods. Thats a good thing. It is why these forums exist. People want to communicate with people who share their specific passion.

Well said BP. There are forums on The Pit that even I don't venture into very often but there are sub segments over there that are very active and have a great community all to themselves discussing their common interests. Don't even get me staarted on those Gibson guys over there...they spook the poop out of me.

Example:

I don't happen to have much interest in say the G&L forum on the Pit because I don't personally dig G&L basses (not that they aren't fine basses mind you) but those guys over here are a very tight knit group.

Is it a "click" or "community"???

I could have sworn I replied to this

Dave, I don't think it's cliquiness at all. Remember, many of the US-based forumites (and Gav) have met in person, either at the Open House, NAMM, gigs or various mini-EBMM fests. The rest of us haven't had that experience, so it's not as easy for us to be as cosy with our imaginary internet friends as they tend to be with each other. Not a rip, just one theory.

Yep, I'm sure that's a large contributing factor.

Bear in mind I'm just echoing what I've heard from others, not voicing my own opinion. :)

Dave

Once again I really appreciate your relaying perceptions that you have taken note of.

Its almost too bad that this is buried in the black sparkle thread.

Morning azzy...cant wait for Tiffles and beth and lisis and sherry and nicole and janis and my other favorites

Aww I feel all special

We female forumites should form a band! Of course we'd all want to play bass... but I'm sure we could work around that :)

bwahahahahahaha!

It's funny how people sometimes feel ignored on this thread. Do you know how many times I've posted on a hot thread, only to check back 20 minutes later and noone's posted? Then tried to find the thread a few hours later only to find it's been buried? It happens to me all the time, sometimes I call myself "the threadkiller". We all get out of the forum what we put into it. If you're posting often, and interacting with others on the forum (i.e. speaking to people and addressing forum members and the issue at hand rather than just blindly posting an opinion), you'll get attention just as much as anyone else would, regardless of sex, hair color, weight, or size of glutius maximus.

I'm done on that. If you want to address it more directly, be my guest.

Dave I hardly have time for this forum.....I know that I cant please everyone and will try to stay honest and continue to contribute. The important part to remember is that there are many forums out there for each and everyones taste.

It's funny the guy who I think you are referencing that left was the same guy that threatened bodily harm to me when responding to a misunderstanding that took place at the open house. That person did not consider the possibility of giving me the benefit of the doubt and when it was cleared up didnt feel the need to apologize to me. I am glad he is not a judge and happier that he no longer posts here.

I'm beginning to get a bit tired of people with way too much internet access and too little common effin' sense.

I am the moderator here. I do everything I can do to keep this pointed in the right direction, but I'm not a heavy-handed person, nor do I think it's my job to shut people up if they happen to disagree with someone.

The UK forum mod says, "They really are a bunch of ****s on the EBMM forum. Start another thread that you're going to swap out the pickups for Jazz's and the preamp for a Bartolini, then you will get to see into the jaws of the EBMM forum beast."

Yes, there are forum members who think such a thing is a bad idea. Maybe I do, too, frankly, but how many times have I said, "It's your bass and you have a perfect right to do whatever you want to it"? How many times has BP said, "Just keep the originals in case you ever want to sell it"?

Why the hell should I be PLEASED about anyone discussing non-EBMM products here? Why? Jazz pickups from WHOM? Is the boss named Sterling Bartolini?

I hope you see my point, those of you who think you have a perfect right to come here and discuss your Warwicks or replacement parts. This ain't the damned replacement part forum.

Check the name up top. Common effin' sense, right?

Well, geez, what a shock. That we turn out to be friendly people. What bassworld.uk and others fail to realize is that this is the ERNIE BALL MUSIC MAN forum. It's been said a million times - there are plenty of other forums if you want to talk about Bartolinis or Basslines or any other manufacturer.

It seems odd to me that people don't get what this is from the very name of the thing.

And by the way, I haven't deleted any posts OR this thread.

Am I still an a$$hole, Bassworld Dot UK?

(Correct answer: "Yes, I am, but not here.")

I wish I hadn't read that as I'm really angry now, yet I don't know why...

Makes me laugh how people can twist situations to read how they want them to read

Yes, like how the one guy twisted the fact that Bass Central told him they couldn't sell outside the US into EBMM's "Ban" of sales to non-US customers. What is Strings & Things? Chopped liver?
