I think Big Poppa wants to give me a majesty to drum up the sales in the uk for MM.

Id be more than happy to make that happen ;-)

I have bought back several guitars from USA to UK, just carry them on British Airways and walk of the other end. Simple and with the dollar returning to its rightful place nearer $2=£1 I see many more to come across.

I play in a pub band too and occasionally get these sort of questions.

I always enjoy telling people (truthfully) that I have both Fenders and Gibsons at home, but have brought two Music Mans (Music Men?) out because they sound better, play better and are more reliable than the Fs and Gs.

Cue puzzled looks from ignorant punter...:D

Danny, feel free to ask about my experiences. In fact I have bought from several US members of this board with great success, so using the 'For Sale' and 'Wanted' threads is a decent place to start sourcing a guitar from 'over there'.

PS Just back from watching the mighty West Ham beat Spurs for the THIRD time this season. On a day such as this, I don't even feel the need to have the usual obligatory pop at Chelsea, (even after what happened to them during the week...) ;):D

I also have a collection of 50+ Fenders and Gibsons, play in a pub band and use MM as my guitar of choice, because they are a superior instrument especially for the working player.

Just ordered a 7 string Majesty in Arctic Dream, £2899. Considering what I guessed it might cost I am very happy with that.

Now have to twiddle my thumbs for the 16 weeks I am told it will take to arrive :)

Andertons of Guildford

Ah! One of my favourite shops. Love Andertons. They've actually got better as they've expanded. Brilliant selection of EVERYTHING now!

A trip down the road to Farnham to Guitar Village is always good fun too. But a bit dangerous for the wallet.

Please keep us up to date with it's arrival etc..

Ahhh, GV is my favourite local-ish haunt. Sublime building and unrivalled selection. They also stock a couple of Armadas right now...

As a father of two, with a mortgage and a better half to support, I have given up on buying guitars over here, prices are simply crazy in Denmark (and/or my tastes eclectic/expensive). Hence, I have resorted to building my own... and to picking up the odd gem when traveling transatlantic.

Sad but true...

RE: Niche guitar line. I guess if you're trying to break into a popular/mainstream market that demands high levels of brand recognition, it wouldn't hurt to bring an F or G. I presume you'd also want to look the part with the rest of the style too, clothes, hair (are faux-hawks still cool?), etc. That part of guitar culture isn't that compelling to me but I get it.

Wanna support a family business rather than a mega-corporation? Wanna drop $4000 on the newest MM model to have one just like JP? What about $10000 to get a custom Languadoc just like Trey Anastasio? Where I live, cost of living is quite low, even for the US, and we don't even have state income tax, so my $ stretches further. But there's no beach. Or mountains. And while I could afford certain high-end stuff because I'm not a working musician, I can't justify buying much of it because I'm not a working musician! There's always trade-offs, eh?

Yes there is always a trade off Dr Rock.

Mine will be the sound of the majesty as opposed to the sound of the wife! (Shes a good one but....)

I know which one will still have a great body, tight end, gorgeous curves and will be just as nice as when I first lay my hands on em in another 10years!

Hehe :)

Also, if you do ever get bored of it, you can just sell it on ebay instead of having to give it half the house.

WIN!

...Ah, quite the ladies men, I see. Ahem. I'll keep my wife and maybe burn through my guitars - but that's just me! Now what was this about selling half the house to buy a European import Armada?
