Well, been here 3 hours so far and haven't been further than two stands - S&T and Mark Bass :D

Who needs more? I could get rid of my entire income between these two places :)

The MB 604 cabs are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. Had a go on those then Mike from MB took me to the Rotosound (shh!) stand where Nigel Clutterbuck gave a demo through a MB Tube and two 604's. Check it out if you can. Momark looks good too well thought out and very flexible.

I have TOUCHED and PLAYED a 25th 5er HSS. It is a work of art and the tones available really are great. Those of you with them, or will soon have have one, are very lucky.

But it was the Bongo which blew me away. I spent ages playing a basic 4H and it was killer. I loved it and could have walked away with it except for the sterling silver 6HS I played next. I've convinced myself I can play a six and the bongo felt about the same weight as my SR5. More versatile, clear, articulate but the B4 was just so much FUN

Just finished lunch so time to back in and, well, play the Bongo 5 I think!

Looking forward to this evening!

its a cool bass glad you liked it! (I wont remind you that the humbucking is ceramic! That is the best humbucking we have made

Cheers BP I remeber it well, I must say though I was extremely impressed by the sound of the 2 single pickups together and I can't tell you exactly whether they were in series or parallel as I didn't have enough time to understand what switch did what, but the 2 singles together sounded awesome together no matter what other switch was pressed.

But because of the headphone amp gizmos on display I couldn't really tell a difference between the ceramic of the humbucker and the neodymium of the 2 singles.

Conclusion is that the bass feels superbly balanced without a strap, as you can see in the pic I didn't use one and the the maple neck on this bass is pants wettingly good :D Can you tell I loved it?

Thanks boss

Here is my photo album from yesterday I hope this link works...

Picasa Web Albums - Francis - Knucklehead Bash

I would like to thank everyone on behalf of my son for making him feel so welcome, he has truly enjoyed the day and has really enjoyed the company of all the grown ups that have spoken to him, all his Christmasses have come together as far as he is concerned, and the highlight of his day was when Steve Vai signed his guitar on the back of the headstock as you can see in the pics above. However Marco now has a new love on his wishlist and that is a certain leftie Silhouette which might come to him as a present one of these days. (which means I need to start saving asap)

Thank you all for such a great day, the forumites, all the staff at Strings & Things, Pete, BP, the Novotel personnel, Albert Lee for talking to Marco, you are all stars.

It was lovely to meet GrayDad, Tiffles, and all the other EBMM forumites.

Just got back home!

What a great day at the show and the EB bash. Got a chance to chat and meet a load of people, see Smelly molest the ferret and enjoy some fine guitars and musicians!

Thanks to the S&T People, Ernie Ball and everyone else concerned!

A big thanks to BL and all the S&T guys for a really great evening - we had everything:-0 beer, music, a feret (though I'm convinced it was a beaver - could have been the beer!) and great company. Thanks again Pete, looking forward to next year already!

Taken from the other post in the guitar forum just in case it gets missed.

Many thanks from Myself, Steve and Nathan to BP, Pete and all the S&T staff, the hard working Novotel staff and especially the many artists who performed for us or just hung about in our presence...... Marco Mendoza and Nicko McBrain didn't make the guest list so had to stay in the commoners bar, we did notice a certain Nick D'Virgillo slip in but forgave him as he reallly was superb on the main stage earlier in the day.

Many thanks to all who took the time to speak to us we really did enjoy everybody's company.

Congratulations to Mr & Mrs OLP Player on their new arrival, we wondered who he slept with last night????:D:D

Looks like young Marco has set his dad a good spell of overtime, look dad you can't let the lad down.

Special thanks to Pete who let me stroke his ferret before JimmyB got his hands on it.:p

Wonderful day, wonderful night, many thanks again.

If we are welcome again next year you can be sure we will attend.

Just got back to darkest Somerset and wanted to say BIG THANKS TO EVERYONE involved in a fantastic event - the whole weekend rocked and Saturday evening was superb. All the musicians were great, the Jamiriqoui boys were outstanding and great to talk to afterwards (and how many chances do I get to do that I ask you?!!) and Albert, of course, was a real pleasure to watch and listen to.

At last I've met the anonymous telephone voices behind Strings and Things and I offer a personal thank you to everyone at S&T for being so tolerant and putting up with me pestering them for TWO DAYS and playing just about every bass they had.

So did Greydad buy a new bass in the end? Was it a Bongo or a 25th, a B6 or something else? All will be revealed soon...

And I met some super Forumites, shame I didn't get to say hello to everyone but to Strummer, Twan, Spud, Mr & Mrs Colinboy, Tiffles, GW and Marco, Mammoth from the Potteries and many others thanks for making a newbie feel welcome - even the Devil, when I could understand what on earth he was saying :D Pretty mean guitarist though, good to meet you Paul.

BP, this was a very special event, thanks for ultimately making it all possible and to DaveB, Pete and the S&T team for the hard work on the ground.

Very best wishes to everyone

Neil
