Hey guys,
I little short talk is necessary to pitch everyone in of what exactly happened that night of the 30th of September at the 'Grand' Regional finals for the King of Blues, Guitar Center of Arlington Heights, IL.
Besides the endless surprises served by the finalists as far as blues comprehension, phrasing and technique and having the 'Judges' pick the biggest surprise (which usually happens) I saw a Candy Apple Red Rosewood neck AL sitting on the belly of a mid 40ies sales person mingling around trying to get his way to the amp. WOW!
This thing SOUNDED phenomenal even through a 'conventional' amp (sorry not a big Marshall fan).
I just had to say 'A rosewood neck on an AL???!!'. The crows looked at me and this is when Glen continued '... with a mahogany body and EVH pickups..'.
I played it through a Mesa Boogie Electra dyne.
I was amused how versatile this guitar has become. Having tones all the way from the sparkling clean tones allowing you to accompany any nashville tune and chorused chord progression, enormous natural sustain (thanks to the wood combo) for any blues soloing or dirty rhythm, twangy sounding rhythms thanks to non-traditional wiring on the 2nd and 4th position and not at last for a technical player like me - the warmth and output of the pickups for long legato runs, aggressive but defined pick attack, the ultimate neck (that word belongs to MusicMan guitars only!!!) and a body contour that allows you to have the same expression while standing up also which is a great deal to any contemporary guitar player today!
With all that I dare any one of you to play it if you get to and share your views and opinion!
Glen, Thank you for the opportunity and the information and not at last - the strings. They sing in one of my old Musicman.
I hope we'll see more prototypes like this one. Good luck and thank you for amazing instruments!
