I have a chance to buy an Albert Lee model (three P90 version) with a view to some customisation.....

Can someone tell me what the routing is like under the pickguard?

I have a mad idea to make my own version of Mr Horsepower (unless Big Poppa will sell me one  ) and wondered whether humbuckers would fit in the P90 channel already routed, and that I could get away without a pickguard.

Cheers

Dave

Dave, I'm not sure, but I have a feeling that your out of luck there. If I remember right the Mr. Horsepower had 4 humbuckers. I haven't removed my pickguard on my AL, but I have a feeling that your gonna have to do some major routing.

There are other Mr. Horsepowers out there, but your gonna pay $10K at least.

What are the particulars on the AL?

Good luck, maybe you'll get when you take off the pickguard though.

There are no "swimming pool" routes on EBMM guitars - the axe is routed exactly as required to fit the pickups - an AL with MM90s has three P90-sized routes.

Any chance Nigel will be at the open house?

And Jamie Lee? She looks pretty cool with a Luke slung low.

I'd probably have to do a swimming pool rout to get the 4 humbuckers in there, I suppose the next question is whether the width of a P90 is the same as the width of a humbucker plus its "ears" (for want of a better word) that drills into the wood.......

Dave

P.S. Jamie Lee looks best in nothing (if you get my drift :D )

Thanks for the link Glenn.

I'll have to make a large rectangular rout for the 4 humbuckers.......as long as the width of the P90 is less than the width of the humbucker.

I wish they hadnt mentioned Jamie Lee - I cant concentrate now.......

That's hilarious, I didn't know it had the 'Keys' on the fretboards, or that any of that stuff on the guitar actually worked... They keys thing kills me.
I don't know where Nigel or Dudley came up with the idea for the fretboard key markers on Mr. Horesepower, but I know Jason Becker had a guitar with color numbers (counting the frets - 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 12, etc.) on a maple board way back in the day.... I'm pretty sure that his was a custom guitar.

Yeah I kind of remember that guitar, it was done up in all bright colors, like the fisher price version of a shred guitar.

Found a pic...
