I have a 25.5" scale guitar.
Mahogany Body, Bolt on Maple Neck
really strong neck
has a tremolo bridge with 5 springs
5 springs? Yes 5 springs ( note these springs are kinda soft )
I also have soft rubber tubing inside the springs and in between
the springs to stop whistling sounds from extreme vibrations :D
also my tremolo bridge is not the typical type, the ball end of the strings
fit in the rear of the guitars bridge system and to adjust intonation
u use screws in the bottom of the bridge hybrid one which is a cross between
a Tone Pro's Bridge and a plate with two pivot points and screws
but beside the point, I don t use the tremolo bar, in fact I have the whammy
bar on the shelf.

I currently use the following Gauges for Drop-A to Drop-C

0.14---0.18p----0.28w----0.38w-----0.48w-----0.58w

But one day I tuned them to E standard tuning one day and liked how it felt

so do you think the following string gauges would work for Drop-A through C?

0.14---0.18p----0.28w----0.48w-----0.58w-----0.68w

I did a test on the .48 and .58 and they can go the 2 steps higher to reach the Drop-C but I only did one string at a time, I know the 0.14 through 0.28 gauges will work but just was wondering about the 0.48 through 0.68w

I buy the 7 String set and store the 0.11's with second set gauges I can do same and store 0.11's and 0.38's and buy a 0.68

I tested the 0.38 tuned it to G and it broke, of course it would :p but went to F

I like big strings for harmonics and tone, any suggestions?

there are lots of things to take in to consideration on strings and tension. If you like the way the 0.14-0.58 feel tuned to E standard find out the tension and try to match that up with a custom set of some kind. Check out this page for additional string knowledge Strings (music) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The math equation to figure it out is explained in some of the links on the bottom of it as well.
