has eb/mm ever made an acoustic guitar? im lookin for a good acoustic guitar right now to play in church and honestly all i want to play right now is an ernie ball and nothing else thanx for your help
Hey, just get one with a piezo bridge and you're all set... I've tried a few acoustic amps with my new AL w/ piezo and it really sounds great... I also tried out the Yahama AG Stomp and it too sounded very good...
I thought that there were a few acoustics distributed back in the 70s under the "Music Man" name - including an acoustic bass - but that was long before Ernie Ball bought the company, I think... also, I'm not sure if they actually built the guitars or just branded some axes built by someone else... Anyway, if they're out there, they are rare as hen's teeth, and I never go the impression that they were particularly good anyway, so I guess the bottom line is that no, there aren't any Music Man acoustic guitars...
As far as I know there were no acoustic guitars made. There was the Earthwood Bass that was made by Ernie Ball. I have played them, and they are pretty cool, but hard to find.
They're not exactly EBMM guitars (the headstock/body design is licensed from EBMM and made overseas by a different company), but this might do the job:
There's a 6 and a 12 string for sale on eBay right now (don't worry if your parents miss out on buying from these auctions, I see them for sale a lot on there):
I'd recommend looking for a store in your area that sells them and trying one of these out first to see if you like it. If you do find a store that does, try out several of them to see which individual instrument you like most as the quality may vary a bit from guitar to guitar (dunno about the acoustics, but the electrics are made in China, and quality control there isn't the greatest).
Many of us here who have genuine EBMM guitars have been very impressed by what they offer for the price (no, they don't play or feel exactly like real EBMM's, but they're still very good) - some here have even bought one to use as backups or "knockaround guitars" to take out in public so they don't mess up their real ones or risk having them stolen. I almost bought one of their Axis clones myself until my Sport came up on eBay for just a couple hundred more $$ (used, of course).
If I had a 15 year old kid who wanted to play guitar, I wouldn't hesitate to get them an OLP to start with (be sure to tell us what you think if ya get one!)...
ive looked into all of the olps before actually my good freind kory plays an olp bass and its awesome it really is but its no ernie ball and thats what im looking for maybe the acoustic olp will be good enough for now at least until ernie ball starts makin them
