Both, when I'm home it's sitting and when I'm gigging it's standing. Club managers seem to be real funny about you sitting at gigs. But I do recommend practicing doing doing both, cause you might be in for a real shock at your first gig;)

I sit when I am working on a specific technique: picking, hand position, using a metronome I also sit whan I am recording in the studio using a Book/sheet music. I stand any other time I play.

I sit when I'm working on theory and transcription related stuff, but I can only do that for about an hour. I have a nasty problem with my back the gets pretty painful if I sit for too long. motorcycles ARE fun, but man it's a heck of a reminder of how stupid I was in college.

I also picked up something from a billy sheehan interview sometime in the early 90's: I always keep my guitar in the same place (strapwise) when I'm standing as when I'm sitting. it's been really bennificial... but it doesn't look very cool. :D

I remember reading that somewhere too, man I'm getting old.

I remember when I first started jamming with a band, I realized that it's a totally different animal to play standing up:eek: . I was actually shocked and felt like I had to learn how to play the songs again. Sincethat incident I make it a point to split time between standing and sitting. I have also found that when I am striving for a new technique I first try it out standing and then go to sitting down.

Hmm...I thought this was a toilet seat question at first.

Foggy, I would think it doesn't matter for you whether you stand or sit being as your EBMM is so "light" ;)

or you could do the bill frisell power stance thing... sort of look over your guitar with your back to the audience...

that was pretty cool. wish I could get away with it.;)

Both.

Played sat down in a gig once - but I did have my leg put in plaster that day!

Oh, played sprawled on the floor of a stage once - PN Club, Munich, 1977.
Went up to the mike mid song, and got "hit" by an electric shock!
Slumped back against the 4 x 12 playing howling feedback whilst "birds circled my head" !!
