We are called Fanbois in other forums because many do not understand our overzealous admiration and protectiveness for our MusicMan basses and our quasi fanatical loyalty to the brand and the people behind them. But if other folks can see this thread and get to know the forum in general better, they will understand why we have this pack like behavior and why we defend EBMM tooth and nail everywhere.

Setting aside for now the innovation aspect, this blow by blow account of product development doesn't happen among other US makers. On one hand, no one shares the evolution of a new product because there is NO innovation. BP and co in their wisdom don't just regurgitate different versions of the Stingray or the Sterling even though it might be financially safer. OTOH, some makers are too far detached from their user base that this sort of interaction is alien to them. Again, BP and co understand the importance (and risks) of having a forum for the fans to discuss products.

Revisiting innovation, once again, EBMM justifies our loyalty with these new, exciting developments and our privileged, outside looking in view of the process. This is the second new, ground up model from EBMM in this decade. No other maker comes close. Not Ffender, Ric nor Lakland.

Although, I hope that one day BP will allow us to beta test these prior to release ;)

I am done pontificating.

this is very well said syciprider

In my world, BPs approach resembles a lot to what is called an "open source" approach. Even if we are only spectators (not in a negative way), it's quite impressive to see what goes into the creation of a new music instrument.

if that makes me a fanboy, so be it. I've been called worst :)

sorry if this is considered an hijack, i only wanted to show my appreciation. EBMM is the only instrument maker these days that make you think twice when you order one of their instruments, cause you just know some new model or design is right around the corner.

I gotta say, I am big fan of flame and not so much of quilt, but I'll tell you what, I can't wait to see those beauties all hardwared up and strung up. I can only imagine what is going in all those holes. Beastly AND beautiful. Can't wait!

So I jumped into the EB/MM pool 12/07, found my second early summer '08, then I figure I have to see why the Bongo has so much buzz, but can't find one to play,
I call Sean at TPB, get it 3 day's later, can't put it down, and now this, it's amazing how much excitement this company generates, I'm sixty but mentally happily mired in my
twenties, sorry I took so long to get here, but man I sure as hell ain't leaving.
Thanks to all at Ernie Ball, you're the best. Rick

Anybody know how to make this thing send me mobile alerts! … I don’t want to be a second late to the “BIG news release party”!!

Brandt, I feel your pain...I don't want to keep back pedalling through all the responses once the post is made to find the original, So I used the THREAD TOOLS and subscribed to the thread to ping my EMAIL..which I have set to notify me for each new email...not sure if that even works.

If you want, I can just give you a call before I leave work. The most interesting stuff always seems to happen online when I'm driving and don't have access to a computer.

Bassmonkeee,

Yeah, do that… and if something goes down I’ll give you play by play so you can visualize what’s going on.

“BP shows the first pic, it’s the headstock it’s personally autographed and numbered he says that number one is shipping out on Thursday to TPB" … you know… that kind of stuff… :D:D:D

i've been a long time lurker here. i've never owned an ernie ball bass, but i've thought very highly of every one that i've played.

with that said...

i have never been as hot for a bass as i am now!

this is my first post and i just had to say that i am bouncing off the walls in anticipation. i want and will have one of these basses.

wow! i feel like a kid again... thank you for that.
