Don't listen to these people.

RealDeal,
The best way to fix your problem is go out to your EBMM dealer,
and purchase a new sterling. :p

Now I just feel stoopid.

To the esteemed Mr. RealDeal,
No offense intended. I'm smiley averse. The content of your post led me to believe you were climbing the walls and in danger of chewing off your own arm.

Please stick around. This is a good place with good people.

if it's as small as you describe , yes. and usually very successfully....

SMALL nick behind neck- between 1st 2nd fret, can only feel it in 1st/2nd positions, really small and insignificant, doesn't matter...
BUT I KNOW IT'S THERE- it's a mental thing.
Talked to my tech, told him I would bring bass in for a set-up (doesn't hurt)
He says they can be sanded out with fine grain paper, he'll take a look, etc.
In the meantime-
Besides your sympathy which I assume I have-
Does anyone know? Anyone at EB/MM or on the board?
CAN this be done?
Can the small nick be sanded away forever, restored to perfect original condition so I will NEVER even remember that it was there, or that it even
happened,
Or should I start adjusting myself to the fact that the bass has a war scar from playing live.CAN IT BE REMOVED???

I am late to the thread I know. Oldtoe is a very smart guy.

He didn't dent your bass but he did mine. :D

Dents are like frets they let ya know where ya are at on the board.

Didn't read it all because I got irritated when you called Oldtoe dumb there Real.

This place is fun don't fail to enjoy it.

alz no piling on this guy was pretty upset about his bass losing its virginity....Lets not run him away (I think he is gone, though)

Pretty impressive, from the Owner himself! Thanks for the thought.
Nobody "ran me away", I play for a living, and spend a good deal of time on the road, and not too much on the 'net.

30-some responses to my post, soem even having to do with the question??- Wow- you guys have a lot of free time I guess.
The "Urgent" part of my post, as well as most of the text, was meant to "encase" my question with humor. Didn't know that a bunch of smileys were needed, nor was I climbing walls about it. In fact, I can live with the nick, altho I would prefer it weren't there. And eventually I'll get around to seeing if it can be removed.

As to giving people "a bunch of sh**"- No, not really-just returning the favor.
Sarcasm doesn't work for me; straight-up answers do, especially from those who
claim to be long-term players- I'll accept the "post of the year" award if I win-Because someone works in repair at EBMM doesn't raise their game-! "Kill yourself" was a pretty lame response- "Get over" what? I asked about a nick, in what I THOUGHT was a funny way...
Anyway- Like I said, my bad.
No problem.
Am I able to lock my own thread now?
Look!- a smiley- (-:

Wow, did you happen upon the wrong site. No, thats not sarcasm.

And if you think that it takes someone who is a "'long-term players" to answer a question like that, then I think you have been out on the road for far to long.

I've got a dent in the back of my head just like on his bass. Should I try the lorazepam or the hot iron?
I tried tequila, but I think that's how I got the gouge/nick to start with.

I spend way too much time here, but do manage to get in some bass-playing - not often enough, not often enough, with my smart-ass cowpunk band, such as it is.

Most of mine have some battle scars. It's easy to live with them unless I can feel them when I'm playing. Try my advice and see how it works for you. I've done it 5 or 10 times over the years and have never blown up the universe.

I guess you might say this forum is pretty close-knit. We're accustomed to each others' idiosyncracies and weirdness and sense of humor. Give it some slack and hang out a bit and see if you don't feel like family after a while.

As far as "post of the year" goes, well, you know - for those of us who know and have played with Jon, it WAS pretty funny to hear, "Do you play?" This is what I'm saying about getting to know who's who and learning about the place, if you're so inclined.

If you're not, then that's okay, too, but - again - we're a pretty friendly bunch of fanatics. We're not for everyone, I'm sure, but who/what is? Hell, some people play Gibson basses, I'm told.

Am I able to lock my own thread now?

Nope, but I can, if you'd like. See? I'm pretty friendly.

Sorry BP, I was laying into Colin's entry (post #15 - Sorry Colin! :D). It was at the bottom of page 1 and for some reason I though it was the last entry. My BAD!!!!

An old woodwork teacher of mine told me to use steam for a nick on my previous SR4. I never tried that (didn't know how to channel it!).

URGENT!

1st of all, it doesn't even HAVE to be fixed, it affects nothing, and you would need to look hard to see it...but it's there!

So first we're being funny...according to RD

Well, maybe I shouldn't have infused "humor" in my question. It seems to inspire
useless sarcastic answers from those with nothing better to do or say.
My Bad.

Then we don't want to be funny...although FYI, the "humor" that RD says his original post is "infused" with...it's called sarcasm.

The "Urgent" part of my post, as well as most of the text, was meant to "encase" my question with humor.

I asked about a nick, in what I THOUGHT was a funny way...

And the cycle continues...funny...not funny...funny...not funny...

It never gets old...
