It's easy to replace the parts and they're interchangeable (you just have to flip the tuner peg).
It doesn't matter as they are interchangeable. You just take it apart and flip the tuner peg around (only 3 parts, well 4 if you count the screw). You could probably just replace the part that broke and use the original plate.
It doesn't matter. The whole thing is interchangeable b/c the tuning peg can be flipped around to the other side. Just buy one.
Hey! I've got an idea! You should just buy any ol' Schaller BM and just replace the key!!!

I think that's already been suggested. :D:D

Do you think I've beat that horse enough? :D

I agree - I think everything you guys have said is correct.

However, bear in mind this is in the UK - we don't have as many dealers or instrument shops here (in fact we don't have that many at all) so it's doubtful you could just walk in somewhere and buy a Schaller tuning peg - phoning the UK distributor and paying for the correct part, which would be delivered the following day, is surely as easy an answer as doing the same with someone who sells non original generic ones which you would then require you to dismantle both the new one and the one on the bass?

well.. call strings and things.. they knows the local dealers best and can direct you to them.
and if no dealers are close by i think the eb customer service reputation has rubbed off on s&t too.. at least thats what i hear ;)

I contacted the UK Ernie Ball music man site which i found on the strings and things site after having sent an email to strings and things and not getting a reply so I emailed the UK EB and got an email the next day which was very helpful so I've now got a replacement on the way :) I did find a site that had schallers but it was way more expensive (25ish compared with 14£).

And as I said before: I really don't have room in my room to have a stand, I have a hercules stand back home. Surprisingly no one in my lectures has noticed even though I volunteered to play the pieces we were studying three times.

Not Allowed. It's not my room cus i'm a student. Anyway, the replacement arrived today (after only two days!) and I replaced it and it's all good now :) Just gotta make sure that doesn't happen again.

On another note: Any one got any tips for practice a groove track? Besides playing it with a metronome at various speeds? Today's live performance song is Rock Steady by Aretha Franklin and I wanna make sure I can groove it and sit back in the pocket comfortably.
