I had a Silhouette in that exact configuration once. I traded it to a guy on this forum for my Gunsmoke Pearl Silo Special. It was a great guitar and played wonderfully, stayed in tune great and all that, but I just preferred a 22-fret hardtail instead.

I wouldn't mind a Silo Special with a thicker body and a Floyd in it though. But then again the Morse Y2D with a trem comes close for that.

Im primarily a hardtail player but I can appreciate a very good Floyd. I love the original Ibanez Edge stuff - smoooth action.

I have 3 silos with floyds (all recessed) and look several times a week on ebay, craigslist and the forums for silos with floyds for sale. (Can you spell obsessed? :D )

I also have a non-floyd silo, but it doesn't feel quite the same, I think it has to do with the string spacing - in my floyd equipped silos, the strings are a bit closer together than in the standard silo.

I looove those guitars.

The Floyd design might be seen as a bit archaic compared to some versions on offer these days though ?

Everything has a floyd on it now. Schecter, ESP/LTD, Hell even GIBSON are putting Floyds on their guitars now...

I think it would be brilliant for EBMM to put Floyds on a Silo and market them to the new wave of young shredders who will use nothing but a Floyd.

An American made guitar with the playability well above its price point. It could compete with some of the newer "high-end" Ibbys and Schecters as far as price goes, but still be made in the USA which the others most definitely are NOT.

I mean the actual original floyd design.

Some variations and developments of the original idea have come a fair way. (i.e edge / edge pro / schaller etc)

But yes, the original floyd is still the bridge of choice for the majority of manufacturers

Seriously, had a Silo with a Floyd been out 6 months ago it would now be my weapon of choice for those '80's moments a lot of us geezers get ourselves into. Sadly, these things are only out in Japan (and the Yen is on a high). However, I simply don't understand why MusicMan doesn't have a Floyded 24-fretter out there and I really hope that this is a sign of an imminent re-introduction of the Floyded Silo.

Cheers
