I am curious about forum member's inspirations or ideas in regards to their choices for their usernames and avatars. Share what you can; I do not want to appear as being interested in something that may be too personal and pardon me if this has been done before. If possible, post a larger picture of your avatar, sometimes they're a little too small to make out.

I'll go first:

Username: sitonmybass
Tongue-in-cheek, play-on-words, and of course, innuendo.

Current Avatar:

"bovinehost" is part of the life cycle of the tse-tse fly and the name of a recording project I did in the 80s and 90s in Miami/California.

My avatar changes frequently, but is now me playing my original Bongo, superimposed onto a 50s Nudie Magazine cover.

For years it was Luke wearing my cowboy hat:

Duarte is my surname. It is pronounced Doo-are-tee (or -tay) depending on whether you choose to use the accent. It's a spanish name, as my Dad is spanish. I was suprised when taking a trip through California that the name popped up everywhere - place names, dishes, people - it seems Duarte is common there.

My avatar is one of my all time heroes. He is Keith Flint of british band The Prodigy - who are my favorite band at the moment. He is a punk, old school raver, dancer and 'vocalist'.

See him in action in these videos (or follow the link in my sig)

Avatar - Me in my get up called Mr. Ridiculous. Even my stage gear has a name!

Nickname I got for cutting my my left hand badly, playing a show that night, and bleeding all over myself and my bass. My drummer gave me that nickname that night and I've used it ever since.

Current Avatar: A picture of me playing my Stingray at a place called The Dive in Goose Creek. We were playing with Hydrovibe and BobaFlex for a few shows on their tour, and that was our hometown show. Here's the larger pic

Bizmarckie is a nick name I picked up by accident sometime back by an obscure acquaintance. BizMarkie is actually a Hip Hop performer/dj/ Yo Gaba Gaba regular made famous in the 80's/ early 90's who still continues as a mainstay in the biz (was that a pun?).

My avatar right now is a small cutout of the movie cover for "Gleaming the Cube"... from 1989, starring Christian Slater.

Intersting, always wonder this as well.

Mine is fairly boring, I own a beagle, the other part comes from my fantasy football team name thanks to my brother.
My beagle jumped up on the couch one day and started tongueing him in the ear, my brother got pissed and started shouting "fing beagle", he could not use the normal word since my Mom was in the room.

If I had known I would still be a contributing member of the fourm I would have used something different.
Avatar well pic of the beagle "Bunny":)

My real name is Fielden. Flip was a nickname given to me by my brother-in-law when he thought I might leave his sister (who I was dating at the time) and go back to my ex-wife. I've been married to the sister six years this June, the name stuck and the whole family just calls me Flip. My step daughter calls me Daddy Flip; hence, DaddyFlip.

My avatar is me in my BongoHead suit Halloween at an English pub in downtown Austin prior to the Widespread Panic show. My sister took it of me with her cell phone. I'm shown biting a tuning key on the 'hand'stock.

Name is dull.. first initial, last name, but it's been my username forever and even I can remember it. None of this adoogie344922 nonsense for me.

My avatar was taken the day after I shaved my head. I like the pic because it shows how radioactive my so-called brain is.

More from the same day....

This is an amalgamation of a whole bunch of different things:

"I am" -- Stating who and/or what you are, your occupation, your reason(s) for existence, etc. An affirmation of sorts. Also is the opening line of "Dead and Bloated" by Stone Temple Pilots and is also the beginning of nearly everly line of lyrics in White Zombie's "More Human Than Human," two very popular songs from the '90's.

"cat" -- A shy, aloof, quadrapedal animal that people just can't seem to get enough of, what with Internet memes like "LOLcats" ("U bawt a Warwick?") and sites and blogs that seem to be dedicated to family pets. People just can't help but squirm delightfully at a litter of kittens.

"warrior" -- One who is a fighter, but not necessarily one who is militant. Could be used to describe someone who is secure and strong.

"cat warrior" -- Creature type in the Magic: The Gathering card game. There are actually cards in the game named as such: Cat Warriors; Mirri, Cat Warrior; Panther Warriors - the list goes on and on, even though I don't play the game anymore.

I don't have an Avatar. I can't really find a good picture right now.

Funky Chicken is short for "Funky Chicken on the Bass, from East Orange, New Jersey". The frontman in a band I played in forever just made that up in like 1992. It stuck. Now it's pretty much just "Chicken". I'm 44 years old and my wife answers our phone and someone on the other end asks for "the Chicken".

I've never lived in East Orange, New Jersey.

BTW there is a new member here named "funkychicken"-I have no idea who that is.

I gotta get me an Avatar.
