Calaveras is short for Calaveras Grande. A girlfriend of a friend of mine was giving me a tattoo and said I had a really big head. She meant this literally, not like I am egotistical. It took me a year to get a bike helmet that fits! They dont make hats big enough!
She said in Spanish that it is "calaveras grande". Since she isn't a native Spanish speaker but instead Mexican-American that rarely uses spanish for anything she was actually wrong. (I have the same relationship with French being son of Francophone Americans, what you would call Cajun)
It would be either calavera grande or craneo grande.
Well Spanish grammar aside it stuck and has been my nick for a while. It also is my online handle on a lot of forums.
On some its Calaveras, Calaverasgrande or Calaverasgrandes.
What is funny is that a folks often assume I am Mexican because of the name.
I am a tiny bit Mexican but I'm mostly Cajun-Creole. Which means I am a funny looking white guy.
I didn't have a profile pic until just now. Thats me in NYC in 2008 at Coney Island. My glasses were broken and taped together so they look kinda silly.

Djaxup has its origins in my past as an acid/house dj. It does not mean DJ Axup or something like that but is a hommage to the excellent dutch acid label djax-up-beats. It has been my internet name from the very beginning. I entered my first chat channel with that name.

My Avatar is a piece of typical Tool art, as i just adore this band. Their bassist is completely bad-ass... but god knows why he changed his stingray for a Wal bass back then. He still plays hybrid slinkies though, and the ray can be heard in the recordings of Forty-Six and 2 and i think H..

btw cool thread. I asked myself more than once where the names came from and what the avatars meant.

Well, first name is "Richard".

Surname is "Darling".

It's sort of a no brainer.....

Avatar is "Cheese" from Foster's Home.

I just like the facial expression.

Just so's ya know, "calavera" literally means "skull" so she was probably just using slang. (Like people say about feet, "Them's some big dogs.")

"Cabezon" is the widely recognized term for a person with a big head.

And I should know, trust me.

ha great thread idea, the skinny stringers should have one but since they dont here is mine; I think its obvious what my username means , and my avatar is from this picture I made when me and my sister jokingly thought we were going to need an album cover after we did a cover of Mad World a couple years back, the full picture cracks me up evertime I see it,you can see it and hear the cover here http://www.myspace.com/gallupe Im still pretty proud of it actually this was my first attempt at running a studio and was after 2 years of playing and my sister was still in middle school, and never have nor will I ever change my avatar :)
edit: here is the picture for all you lazy low stringers out there

Well it's more like she was putting together a couple of odd words she knew in spanish. In California we have a lot of Mexican-American folks that speak almost zero spanish. Most of them pick it up in high school spanish class. The flip side of brown pride is that most latin families that got somewhat middle class kind of frowned on the whole language thing. So there is whole generation of my friends that are 100% Mexican blood but know about as much spanish as I do.

Lonny is my nickname, from Leon as my real name.. When we made the art design for our first cd we needed four nicnames, since we always called our guitarist Stroopy, so the legend goes:

Singer: Skinny (tall and small)
Guitar: Stroopy (from his familiy name, Stroop)
Bass: Lonny (as mentioned above, from Leon)
Drums: Winy (from his familiy name, Wijnings)

On forums apparently Lonny is very popular, so I added my big love (next to my gf) to the username, basically everywhere on the interwebz..

Avatar is from South Parc, not that I really like it, but because it is small and easily recognizable.. And secondly because I stole the old avatar from Mynam here on the forum, so I can't really use that one, can I..

Paranoid is a great album by my favorite band, Black Sabbath. /m\

Both myself and the LP were born in 1970. (Man that's an old album).
Also I am by nature a rather paranoid person.

The avatar is of course the Steal Your Face logo from another favorite band - The Grateful Dead.

Jef is one of my nicknames, from my first name Jean-François (I'm French).

The avatar is a photo of my carbon blue pearl bongo head, with some "artistic" effects applied.
This bass was my first EBMM instrument. I played one in a local store and immediatly enjoyed it.
Looking for information about this bass, I found this great and friendly forum (the only one I regularly check) !
Such a bunch of nice guys with great advices !!!

Well my name is Mike, but so is every 3rd bass player around so it seems.

So when I signed up on my first bass forum, someone already had my 'mike' name I wanted, and realised I had to come up with some goofy handle. At that same time I was listening to Infectious Grooves, and it came up to the part where Sarsippius flushes the toilet....

The pic above is me and my '78 Ray.

Hwystar is short for "Highway Star" which in my opinion is the GREATEST Deep Purple song ever, also was the nickname of my 1971 Dodge Charger R/T, how I miss that car, no avatar but if I ever find a pic of that Charger IT WILL be my avatar. P.S. Machine Head has some of the greatest bass lines EVER!

well, when I originally ordered my JP7, I ordered it in Pearlredburst, but then changed the color the next day to Mystic Dream. That's the story behind mine!

I attend Northern Michigan University.

My username is my initials (ST) spelled out phonetically, plus I LOVE golf, so the "Tee" part ties in nicely with THAT addiction...

Didn't have an avatar until THIS thread came out, so I decided to make mine my Sterling 5HH that I found on eBay on my birthday (9/7) last year via my daily agent...I took that as a SIGN that it was meant to be...now I'm trying to figure out how to get a Bongo 4 in my arsenal...
