Hi all,
New to the EB forums!
been reworking my guitars and gear and finding that i really love the tone of the basic slinky configuration! they have a depth and richness i dont get from other strings..., and its great to have come back to EB.

FYI,i play a highly improvised Middle Eastern /country/jazz /rockabilly /funk hybrid, on a Gretsch Country Club and another custom guitar.

That said, Im trying to dial in a good feeling set tension wise. Ive used anywhere from Power Slinkys to Beefy s to Not Evens , but find some tension disparity in the sets as produced. I'm wondering if EB has a set of tension measurements available? also , has EB ever experimented with packaging more balanced sets?

I'm very interested in the Cobalts as well, but am hoping someone from EB can shed a little more light re the cobalt alloy's 'magnetic relationship to the pickup' as mentioned in the video. My Gretsch uses Dynasonics (actually I'm using T-Armonds, the TV Jones take on that design). Dynas have incredibly strong magnet slugs, which make them a bit difficult to dial in and balance, but for those of us who like 'em , its worth it. :) I'm a little concerned that the Cobalt's magnet sensitivity could be just disastrous for these magnets. Any guesses on how they'd play together? even better, do you know if theyve been tested with Dynas?

many thanks!

I know EB don't generally publish tension specs for their strings but I'd recommend dropping customer service an email or call them and I'm sure they'll be happy to help choose something that works best for you. If you want to make up a custom set to your own specifications, you can order EB strings in any gauge from the EB online store (which you can find from ernieball.com). The online store is currently shipping for residents of US & Canada, GB & Ireland, and France.

Where the cobalts are concerned, if there is any issue with your particular pickups, simply dropping the pickup height a touch will probably solve any issues but again, customer service are the ones to ask.

And before I forget, welcome to the forums!
