For me, the ideal single cabinet is a 4-10.
Also, in my ideal world, my Ampeg 4-10 would weigh 25 pounds.
Back in the old days, I would bring my 4-10 cabinet for just about everything, unless I wanted to prove how really manly I was - in which case, the 1-15 came along, too. I don't think it really made much sonic difference, but it sure looked cool.
There isn't much my (much lighter) Markbass 2-10 and 1-15 cannot do. I've tried it indoors, low volume, outdoors, high volume, and it performs perfectly.
Now if I really want bone-crunching, guitarist-frightening volume and pants-flapping, I'll still choose the Sunn 1200s with the two Ampeg cabs - but it's a trade-off. Do I really want to lug that stuff around? (No, I do not.)
I need sherpas, dammit.
