Is it just me getting old ? I don't think so..I like all kinds of music from classical to heavy metal , but the music from the last 20 years that has been marketed by the music industry is utterly forgetable..hum me the tune to any song from the last 20 years...

It's just you.

And yes, unfortunately it's because you're getting older. Happens to us all, we get so used to the music and bands from our 'formative years' that anything new sounds different (and nobody likes change) to us.

I am 45, and admittedly at this age it is hard to keep in touch with what's cool in music. But there definitely is great new music being made, you just have to dig a little to find it. May I suggest Foxy Shizam? One of the greatest live bands I've ever seen, and their records aren't bad either. Better yet, there guitar player is frequently seen playing an Axis!

Try listening to more country...I*ve always found it to be timeless. There*s lotsa nice stuff out there.I don*t care much for metal, but there*s a Latvian violinist named Armand who put out a metal cd..which I really like..so ,ya,ya might have to dig around a bit....the Stones are still my favs...

Hey Rog- Im 42 and cannot stand most of todays music. Its only made to sell and make money from teenagers. Do yourself a favor and listen to the Empyrean by John Frusciante. An independent artist, who could give a sh*t about releasing his music to make $$. Although he is worth $23mil.

As long as those who own the music industry push the fame factor and those who watch it, want it now, music, talent and innovation will take a back seat. You've got to have some sympathy for these people, they chose not to know any better
