I'm heading out for Durango on Monday. Doing two days of mtb-ing. The first day is gonna be a 23 mile downhill on some of the sweetest singletrack I've ever heard of. Then thursday I head off to visit family in Wisconsin. I probably won't be around much so I want to wish everyone a happy 4th of July while I can. Everyone be safe and enjoy the holidays (for those that get them.)

Hope to have plenty of good pictures and wonderful tales to tell when I get back. Adios senors y senoritas.

I noticed you didn't mention about the second day of mountain biking. That's the 23 mile uphill day, right?!

When I was racing mountain bikes back in the 80's, I spent a summer in Colorado and some great time in Durango. You will have a great time! What is the altitude difference between Tucson and Durango??

Have fun!

About a 4000' difference. I'll be sucking eggs but I won't have to do as much pedaling as I do around here. My friend and I both are driving so we'll have two vehicles and will be able to do shuttle runs. tee-hee. Nothing like using the internal combustion engine to cheat gravity.

I'm all packed and ready to go. 24hrs from now, I'll be in Durango hoisting a cold one and wondering what the trails are gonna bring. :)

I did a race at Brianhead Utah and the altitude KILLED me, but we did 2 days of downhill runs on the lifts. Climbing sucks, but at altitude, it really sucks.

I've done some rides up at Flagstaff and, yeah, climbing at altitude sucks. With my asthma, it is even worse. I'm keeping the altitude at the back of my mind, gonna take it easy on the booze and try my best to enjoy some of the primest riding I've ever heard about. I'm starting to feel like a kid on Christmas eve. :D
