I'm with ya on the VH Rush & Yes, I graduated 82 so same era. My fav Sammy boot is the HSAS with Neal Schon...he rips!

I'm also interested in Jazz & Fusion, Metheny, Stern, but the rockier side, like Lukather & Landau. I like modern stuff, but mostly the cream of the crop, like TOOL & Sevendust. DT I like alot, especially their new tour. I like it heavy sometimes. I have a Petrucci 6 & 7 myself. In addtion, I'm a Planet X nut!

Well, I am glad I didn't get tix for this. I have seen Van-Hagar
at least 7 times and I didn't think they were very on. New songs
are kinda hokey, no Balance tunes(Criminal), MIchael Anthony should not sing. On the plus side, at least Sammy will finally sing Unchained. Only took him 19 years.

1. "Didn't think they were very on..."
Well, you do have to cut them a LITTLE slack. I mean, we ARE talking about them, save the dress rehearsal, being on stage together for the first time together in 9 years, let alone the very first show of the tour. People that went to the show also complained about the mix not being the greatest, but you don't expect everything perfect the first time, do ya? Give 'em a little time... :)

2. "New songs are kinda hokey..."
I would agree with you, to a point. I really like "Learning to See"...this one seems to have the most effort put into it. The other ones...eh, they;re good and all, and they're VH, but they could be a little better.

I'm saving my heavy criticism for the studio album (unless, God forbid, something derails THIS train!)

3. "No Balance tunes (criminal)..."
No argument...after F.U.C.K, this is my second fave. I love each song on both, and for none of those to be in place knocks some points off of my tally for them. I hope they plan to add/change some of the current songs before August.

4. "Michael Anthony should not sing..."
I could also agree with you on this, not to bust the guy's chops, but moreover, I LOVE his solos, when the boy just goes nuts on stage. That should be put back into the rotation. Unfortunately, that would lose a classic VH song a la Mikey, but on the same token, seeing Mikey running around like a madman on stage making strange noises from his 4-banger is a staple of a VH show.

5. "at least Sammy will finally sing Unchained..."
According to what I've heard on VH forums, this song and Sammy actually goes back to the F.U.C.K tour; he'd done it a few times on that tour. I hope that, as before, more gets added/changed around during the tour.

I'll go to bat for them, obviously, since VH is to me as the Beatles are to my pops (lives, loves, learned about them, etc.), but I do say to give them some time before you make a true judgment...it'll get better (I personally give them a B+) :)

Just my take, excuse the book, er, long post. :)

Bring it on!!! I'll be picking up another spindle of CD's this weekend. :)

I'm waiting for the Yes / Dream Theater tour to begin. There should be some decent shows from that I would think.
