I have a jp6, love it. I also have a luke3, love it even more. I now get the feeling an Albert Lee has got to be the most logical next step to take. Who loves what about their AL's? What kind of music do you jam out to on a AL?

Saving for an AL HH as we speak, and I agree, I'm up to 3 MM Guitars and 5 total now...

I think that the ALHH is perhaps the most versatile guitar that EBMM offers. I have on of the Ivory White GC Limited ones with the coil tap, so it covers a ton of ground.

Also, funny story about the ALHH (not to derail the thread, just to extol the AL's virtues!). My Dad does a lot of business with a local music shop who deals mostly in Fender stuff who happens to have the only local tech that I would trust with any of my guitars. So I brought my ALHH and my LIII in on Friday to have the fret edges filed (when I got them from GC the necks were so dry it was criminal) and while I was there I wanted to try out one of the new Fender Machete amps. So I grabbed my AL HH to check it out while the tech was working on the LIII. Anyways about 10 minutes later the tech comes out and is just completely blown away by the different sounds I was getting out of the AL HH. He actually thought I had played three different guitars! Anyways, just thought I would share this little story since its relevant! AL HH rocks!

Which AL are you considering? HH? SSS? MM90?

You already have two HH guitars, so if it were me, I'd consider one of the single coils for something different. But what are YOU interested in?

I think I found a custom AL with an hss configuration. Kinda hush hush at the moment.

I have to admit the AL is probably my favorite of the bunch (see other posts above...) :D

My goal is to get a nice AL, and put in a preamp like my luke3 has. And do the same to my jp6! My savings account is going to be upset, but you only live once!

Nice plan! The LIII with the preamp is great. But my Al's are still my favourite, they can do almost anything. Would be interesting to hear how the AL/Axis pickups sound boosted!

The ALHH is in the same tonal territory as the Axis/EVH but its richer and more Les Pauly if that makes sense.

I think its great! And the shape is very comfortable indeed.

My ALHH is great for Rock, my PDN MM90 AL is a perfect substitute for a Junior/ Tele, my MM90 AL is Tele on steroids, my SSS AL with replacement Pickups has all the strat tones i need. I think i have to get another one, just to have it. I´m planning to get a AL SSS hard tail with original pickups. In my opinion Al´s are the best guitars you can buy at the moment. Great sounding, comfortable to play, great tools for the working musician.

Al HH and MM90 are both incredible. I wrote a song for my wife that I played on our wedding day. The Al definitely inspired some good stuff. They're very versatile, especially with the vintage trem. It was my first Music Man!

In the spirit of this thread, I'm curious about a couple of things. I've owned... 7? JP's now... Many different kinds, 6's, 7's, BFR's, you name it. Hands down the best guitars I've ever played. I've also owned some J Craft Ibanez guitars that I really like too. The only one I haven't liked was a 22-fret one. I assumed it was natural to like either 22 or 24 frets. It sounds like quite a few of you guys really like Luke's even though they are 22 frets (unless I am horribly mistaken). Do you notice a huge difference? Have you been playing 24's and 22's your whole guitar life? What about the Luke do you like more than a JP?

Thank you!

In general, I prefer the neck pup tone on a 22 fret guitar. But that's just me...

Plus, I don't have the skills (yet...) to even use 24 frets... :^]
