In fact, it was a picture of Melvin Gibbs in the October 1990 issue of Guitar Player with a picture of him and a blue/maple Stingray 5 that I stared at for many years that probably sealed the deal for my love of that bass. I wish I still had the magazine. I tried a search for the photo to no avail.
