So I was watching this vidoe someone posted over at TB of some Asian guy and his bass collection which is impressive to say the least. He doesn't speak English so do your own subtitles lol. Anyways, at the 2:22 mark he picks up what looks like a stingray, and it has tremolo system on it with the tremolo bar. I couldn't tell you if it is stock or not, I didn't think EBMM did tremolos on their basses. Here's the video for you to check it out for yourself...

Looks like a Ray - don't know if it was a factory special run or not very well could be an after market add (I had one added to my 1st bass)

I can't make any real comment, since my internet connection is horrible and I can't look at it, but I know Hipshot makes one. So it could just be a simple aftermarket add on.

I always thought a bigsby split style palm vibrato would be cool on a bass. One whammy for the E and A strings and another one for the D and G strings. Then you could play harmonics on the D and G strings and be able to whammy them without the E or A strings being affected. I thought of that about 30 years ago and hadn't thought about it again until I watched that video. I wish I knew what that guy was saying especially when he used the neck pickup to fret a high note on the G string. Thanks for sharing that with us.

That's a Kahler whammy, Gav. I've played those on basses before, I had a G&L bass that it came stock on. It doesn't work nearly as well as it does on guitar, the notes go flabby pretty quickly as you drop the tension.

Cool. I believe Randy Coven used tremolo on bass a lot.

And I can recall I saw an EBMM Sterling with whammy on the Basscentral website.
Believe it was from one of the salespeople. Not 100% sure though.

My wife is Japanese and I got her to listen and translate (my Japanese is terrible :p) and she said he says something about taking off a knob because it got in the way and that the bass is unique because of the arm. That's it.

Doesn't really answer your question but I thought you might like to know what he's saying anyway...
